Today in Hollywood members of GROWTH Girl Scout Troop #3500 hosted their third arts & crafts activity for the Hollywood Police Activities League (PAL) program. The theme was outer space, and the craft was building your own planet!
The PAL kids chose from a table full of paper mache balls that the scouts had made days before and prepped with a base coat of paint. The planets were already strung with fishing line. Then the kids gathered at a table full of markers, glue, pieces of fabric, feathers, glitter and other fun supplies, to begin decorating their planet. Some chose to use silver glitter for snow, while another glued on a red string of sequins for an equator. Some planets had stars hanging above, which were brightly colored decals suspended in mid air by a pipe cleaner, while another had blue crepe paper rippling in wave formations as an ocean. They turned out really cool! Way to go girls!
Three of the GROWTH Girl Scouts are also graduates from the PAL Junior Police Academy. They enjoyed the eight week program as police cadets last summer. Hollywood PAL program also joins GROWTH Foundation, the Hollywood Hills West Neighborhood Council Youth Development & Recreational Resources Committee, Parks & Recreation, and Council District 4 as a collaborator for the P.U.P project in Runyon Canyon.
